Searching for "ford contour wiring cracking" on google doesn't get anything related, and there is not much information about this problem on the net at all.

here. Type in for example, 1995, Mercury, Mystique, then select electrical-underhood wiring harness. You will see 15 consumer complaints.
1996=8 complaints.
1997=3 complaints.
Now type in the same for a 1995 Contour. You will get 39 complaints.
1996=9 complaints
1997=7 complaints.
Most of these complaints had fires associated with them.
If you search a little further...you will find all kinds of information.
I cannot stress more strongly the fact that everyone needs to do this. Maybe Lance will help us out by getting a special link or page together.
