I am looking into getting a wider tire for my 2000 Contour Sport V6. The factories are 205/60R15. I have researched it and a 245/45R16 will be the exact same diameter as the 205's, but obviosly wider. The question is will a 245 width fit with minimal or the preferred no rubbing in sharp corners? Also will that tire fit correctly on a 16x6 Ford Racing SVT rim? Please advise.
Thanks! Rob

I can't see a 245 tire fitting on a 6" rim.

i definitely dont see it happening. the most some guys are running on here are 235/40 and that might be on at least a 6.5inch wide wheel if not at least 7 inch or more. 225 on the stock 16 x6.5 already shows a buldge in the sidewall.

I have 225/45/16's and they have NO bulge.. I think the guys running a 225/50 might show some bulging due to the 4x4 looking sidewalls.. But a 245/45 will be a monster truck tire man. you have to realize that the "45" is the percentage of the width(which is 225 millimeters) so that means that your sidewall is going to be too large, and the 245 width on a 6.5" width rim will be scary.. Good luck!
And why do you want such a wide tire?

Because it looks good.

Anyway, here is another thread on it that I had bookmarked. Apparently Buckshot has already done it. Clicky!

I just put 245-50-16's on my 7" tbird rim and there is quite a buldge so you'd almost have to go 245-45-16's on a 7.5 or 8" rim if you could find one

no i dont. the original post was asking about a 6inch wide wheel w/ 245. i was saying buckshots ssr's arent 6 inches wide. he did a 245 on a wider than 6inches wheel.

the 17 part is what I was questioning, the were 16's 245-45-17's would never fit.
