Forget the SR20 swap, just turbo the stock engine and add some forged internals. That will give you a tough engine and good power and .4L more displacement, plus parts will be easier to find for the standard KA engine vs the SR.
Man, if I knew as much about cars when I was first car shopping, a 240sx would have been my first car. Though I feel the JDM engine swaps are getting overrated, I really like the front fender/bumper/fixed lamps swap. Make that a Sil-Eighty, with a 2.4L turbo'd engine! DO IT. DO IT. DO IT.

IMHO...the sr20 makes it easier for do it yourselfers...all you need to do is swap it in and do the harness.
Preppin the engine is too much for some, if not most...

Good choice. Could spend a fortune modding that. I want one but can't find a good one. Great interior and seats.

Are you guys sure? I've been on some JDM engine sites and they have a FWD and RWD version of the SR20DET
so i thought maybe some of them are FWD...

The FWD are different cars. The RWD are from Silivas,180SX's,etc in Japan. All the engine swap motors are JDM SR20DET's, which is the better route in my opinion for a trubo motor. Scrap the KA and swap in a SR20DET.

and yeah its rwd... 155 HP.. with the mods I think it has about 165? maybe? I don't know how much headers and chip and intake and exhaust would give me.. but it feels pretty strong, alot stronger then my zetec...
It's got alot of neat options such as VLSD, basicly the same thing as LSD, all the power options... etc..
I'm tryin to find out if it has HICAS now, (4ws)
and freakshow, I'll keep you in mind man, whenever I need that sr20det engine
hopefuly it doesnt have hicas the 240 guys don't lke it much it messes with the handling , besides if it did it would say it on the car they all did that had it. looks nice 110 is alot of miles i got my 90 with 67,000 on it . hopefully you got a good deal mine was 2200, good luck with it these cars are a BLAST....

forget the sr20 and ka24. Drop in an RB25DET and you will be set.

Good looking car. I drove a 240 before I got the 'tour. Loved it but just couldn't fit the kids' car seats in the back and still be able to drive - just too small of an interior. Great cars though. I have a real fondness for that series - I learned to drive stick in a 200SX and logged a lot of time in a friend's 240 in high school. I'd be doing everything I could to do an SR20DET swap into that though, not too $pendy and makes it what it ought to be, vs. the truck motor in it stock.

Thanks for the response guys, and I just found out it does not have HICUS, which is a good thing from alot of 240 guys are saying, I guess it ain't reliable
AND, my crapolier project got screwed over, honestly I was about to drop an SFI 3100, so it wouldnt of been that bad, just the car was so damn cheap, and rust was bein a pain in the ass!
But yeah so far I'm loving the 240, only problem I have is the KA, doesnt have very good top end.. espiecally at higher rpm's, it feels like its just pooped out at over 5300 RPM
I'll probably do an SR swap eventually, (it is the cheapest afterall) and puts down good power, but that won't be until next year. or possibly the summer.. if I can rack up a summer job
