actually, i have used alpine, pioneer, polk audio, as well as numerous others. I have a kicker psr 80 sitting in my living room that will knock your liscense plate off, why? because it is properly matched for the enclosure....The sound quality from each speaker must be matched with the enclosure rated for that speaker. I never said others were not of any quality, but for a fosgate amp, either fosgate subs or if you have the money and can afford to import one a simple bose 10" which will have to be ordered especially from germany ( giving them the specs for your enclosure as well as trunk air space.) it usually runs around 1500.00 for this 10" sub designed for your car.
Before you call someone moronic you should check and make sure that person does not have just a little more information than yourself.
Fosgate amps are designed specifically for fosgate subs, that is what runs the best on the amp. As for enclosures and placement that is up to the type of music listened to and desired bass effect.
as well i didnt say fosgate's were my fav speaker,,,i prefer alpine,,,,but they just dont give the sound or durability...

[/sub] Yes. We all know that a sub has to go in the right box based on t/s parameters, or most of us do. [qb] I never said others were not of any quality, but for a fosgate amp, either fosgate subs or if you have the money and can afford to import one a simple bose 10" which will have to be ordered especially from germany ( giving them the specs for your enclosure as well as trunk air space.) it usually runs around 1500.00 for this 10" sub designed for your car. Since when does Bose mfg subs? Is this a recent phenomenon? Why in germany? Since when has Bose made a high end product? Sorry, unless you can point me to a source for these German made Bose 10" subs built to your own specs. First of all, 1500.00 would be cheap to develop a single sub. Second of all, if I wanted to do that, I would go to a respected speaker house like TC Sounds, Vifa-Scanspeak, or Eminence. Most definitely not Bose (again, i do not believe they have any speaker MFG capabilities.) Third, I would rather buy audio equipment from a company concerned with quality sound reproduction rather than a marketing company like Bose. Before you call someone moronic you should check and make sure that person does not have just a little more information than yourself.
Believe me, I never underestimate anyone. I have seen too many people pick fights with someone who subsequently makes the original guy feel like an idiot. But you saying that a RF sub will blow away anything mentioned earlier, was the first mistake you made and showed your lack of knowledge of the industry. There are dozens of speakers that will outperform anything RF makes. Fosgate amps are designed specifically for fosgate subs, that is what runs the best on the amp. As for enclosures and placement that is up to the type of music listened to and desired bass effect.
No subs is MADE for a particular amp, aside from potentially matching aesthetically. as well i didnt say fosgate's were my fav speaker,,,i prefer alpine,,,,but they just dont give the sound or durability...
If they don't give the sound or durability, then why are they your favs?

why germany? that is where the bose company is located. I spent 3 years station in freidburg, germany. Bose does spend alot on marketing for their product, that goes without saying. But if you want a bose sub then it is there to be had......why are alpine my fav? Alpine has always been my favorite in car audio. All of my other speakers in my car are alpine but the subs. But as far as Subwoofers they dont hold up to the pressure or the air impendence as well as others.
RF subs do out perform most in the category that they belong to.......SUBWOOFERS. they are not designed to do anything more than bass. They definately do not handle voice worth a damn. But they are designed for bass, and that is what they do...
For amps not being made for specific subs? That is incorrect......when a company makes an amp, they intend it to co-enside with a certain speaker. People have been matching amp's with what they want for years, and it will never stop. Nor would i ever suggest it stop..
If you were to call RF.......and ask their design techs, what the amps were designed to be hooked to they will tell you RF subs...as will kenwood, polk audio, pioneer, lanzar, american legacy, and so forth.....Not saying they wont work just as well with other subs,,,,or vise versa....

JJJ, you have a complete misunderstanding of how speakers, amps, and basic eletrical systems work as well as the design and manufacturing of speakers.
I'm sure your subs sound very good and are loud, but I am also sure you haven't hear many good sounding subs in properly designed boxes.

The only European mfg operations are located in Ireland. But if you want a bose sub then it is there to be had...... First of all, I don't know anyone who would want one, second, AFAIK they do not have subwoofer mfg capabilities. The last I heard, they farmed out their driver mfg to speaker suppliers. My info is a few years old, though. Third, there is no way that 1500.00 buys you a one-off customized subwoofer.

Alpine is a very respected company. Good choice. Alpine doesn't have any subs that compete with the HX2 series of subs, at least spec wise. But they do make some nice sounding subs. What is air impendance?

Like I said before, there are a great deal of subs that will outperform anything that RF makes.

You are absolutely wrong here. When an amp is designed, it is designed to acheive an uncolored flat frequency response. Not to work best with a certain sub. There maybe some wattage matching, but that is the extent of it. An RF amp will work equally well with a Alping, Adire, Blueprint, RF subwoofer.
If you were to call RF.......and ask their design techs, what the amps were designed to be hooked to they will tell you RF subs...as will kenwood, polk audio, pioneer, lanzar, american legacy, and so forth.....Not saying they wont work just as well with other subs,,,,or vise versa....
Its called advertising. They want to push their own product. If you were to ask a amp mfg which sub works best with their amp, they would tell you any sub that will handle the power provided. If you went to Eminence and asked them which amps work best with their drivers, they will tell you any quality amp. If you went Pyle and asked them, they would tell you their POS subs work best with their amp.
