Last year my front left speaker died off and ford chaged it under warranty, today while I was doing somw sound proofing in the door, I noticed that the one they put in in different from the originals that I have in the other three doors, So please tell me what the real differences are and which are supposedly the newer better ones? if any...
(The originals ): Heavy metal bracket with a thin paper mesh on top of the plastic holes and it had three mounting holes 2 in the bottom and one on the top.
(The new one ) : Much lighter weight almost half the weight, mainly plastic everything , with a plastic shrowd aroudn the magnet area with a a 20 ohm sticker and no paper mesh. and 4 mounting holes, one on each corner!!
Now, with respect to the sound, I think the original ( on the right side now) has a much stronger bass with may be less high range, while the left one ( plastic) has much weaker bass and better high range output. !!
Please advise.
I have the pioneer 3 way 6865 I think and after putting it in last week I found that it sounded too weak, ( probably due to the whimpy original stereo output) so I put back the original. Which is way better for this stereo.

Put back the pioneers, get a new HU, and maybe an amp. A whole lot better sound that way. My 2 cents
Give me more beer and CEG before i get depressed!

I really don;t like the lokk of after market units, you see, I laugh when I real all the reviews about cars when they start talking about ergonomics and how buttons and switches of a certain car( usually 99% american ) is fiddly and hard to press while driving or with a gardeners glove on.. Well why do they disappear when it comes to after market units? I just acaanot stand their shiny plastics and flashy looks. SO for the time being until I get my hands on a unit from aJetta or something I would never go that way.. So the question is, does anyone know which speaker is better?

Funny. I think mine looks extremely stock. BTW, I wouldn't recommend either speaker.

Geez..there are some units that look pretty good like the Naks and there are others. OR you can use a CD changer. Also, you rather have crappy sound than something that isnt stock looking? If you dont care about the sound due to the looks, why do you bother thinking about the differences of obvioulsy crappy Ford speakers, that arent even worthy of a Sparkomatic cassette player..

I second that, the nak's green illumination is close to the contours. As far as the speakers, I bought some junky ones off od ubid for DIRT cheap and they still sound 5x better than the ford ones. Ford stereos= Donkey poo
Every time I come online I wonder if the forums will be up

Well first sorry for the crappy spellinng in my original msg, but nowm let me tell you that last week I put in the pioneer on one side and the stock on the other and I swear ( as much as I wanted to keep the pioneers ) I found that they could not produce the bass or the mid range the stock had, might have had atad better high range being 3 ways but that was it I swear.. I guess it is as someone once said, they are too strong ( demanding ) for the stock unit .. SO unless there's something strong enough to drive them, I will stay with stock, and yes I orefer to stay stock than go with a shiny timy button after market unit.. When was the last time you saw am Audi or a BMW with a shiny Sony xpeldionian Xs or a Blaupunch Kandahar? I think after market units only looked good in the early nineties. After that bcame just tooo tacky to fit in anycar and look compatible and elegant.
