was thinking of some ways to make money: go to tradeschool and take up automatic transmission repairs... should not take longer than 4-6 months.. then get a shop.. hire about 4-5 $6.00 hr. guys to pull the transmissions out and i fix them or even hire a $10.00 hr. jackleg mechanic and tell him what has to be done... the labor charges should be about
$80-$100 per hr... on each vehicle.. the parts ????? can be very little to over $200 for parts/junkyard stuff and gasket set... make alot of money.. if it does not work out and get too many people coming back in then sell warranties for an extra $500-$800 and let someone other than me worry about them coming back... this is how most of these places work.. the transmission is a little too hard for the average shade tree mechanic to do so they bring it to a shop.. unlike brakes and other engine repair there are shops all over the place that do brakes, even muffler shops do it now.... figured that in a year or two that the profits would have easily bought the shop from the person who owns the property..... something to think about......
when you pay $2500 to $3000 for a transmission repair you better going to the dealer as he is not as likely to move out next year.. he has got other things going for him at this locations and will be there for the long haul.....
