I've been having a reoccuring problem for about 3 months now.
Background:
I had a local audio shop install a new:
deck: Pioneer DEH-P3300
amp: GM-X952
Subs: ts-w304c (two 12's)
Once in a while, one of the subs stop working. I've taken my car back to see what's wrong and they said it was the patch cord was pinched. They replaced it for free, and the subs were working again.
two months ago, the one sub stopped working. I took it in and they said that it was the settings on the amp was all wrong (I never touched them). so they set up the amp again, and all was well. They also said that because the box is ported (not properly ported for my subs) that the subs aren't getting enough resistence, and is "shorting out". Also, yesterday, the one sub stopped working again.
My question is will an improperly ported box cause a sub to stop working? Or is there something fishy going on?
