Okay, a few more questions:

What's your experience with those? Ever hear them or know of anyone using them? I don't mind being the first. You were spot on with the Shiva recommendation.

Says the impedence on the tweet is 8 and 5.4 on the 5". How will that affect amp sellection. I'm looking at the JBL amps just because it will match what I already have pushing the subs. The p80.4
and the p180.2
I've been able to find decent prices on them both. Which would work best with this combo?

You the man Dave

if your going to make mix and match I like
DDW6.5 and Vifa XT25TG30-04 with these DDXO-HP crossovers. If you look at the numbers these are a perfect set up.

[sinister voice] these will be mine, oh yes! they will be mine[/sinister voice]

If that tweeter is to big for you to mount i'ld get the INFINITY REF105T

i'ld get the p180.2 amp if you went with the set up in this post. otherwise it depends on what your getting.

Lots of stuff to look at and think about. Thanks for the suggestions Tony. Seems like someone else had just bought the vifas and was having trouble mounting them due to the size. I'll have to look through the forum.

Me can't wait to finally have my car not sounding like ass.

My experience with Hi-Vi is limited to their planar tweeters, which are very very good. I have read great things about their mids as well. They use similar technologies as dynaudio in their mids.

I have heard a few morel tweets and liked all of them. I only selected these because of their smaller size. You could also look into partsexpress part number 279-130 which is the tweeter used in the soundstream exact component sets.

The higher resistance works out well in this case because the tweeter is quite a bit more effecient than the mids. The mids will get quite a bit more power because of the lower impedance.

Either of the amps you listed would be good choices. With the 4 channel version, I would recommend biamping your front speakers, but for max output, I would bridge it to two channel mode to maximize the power.

Jeeze, I feel like I'm back in college taking electricity and magnetism. Damn Gaus and his laws. I'm unfamiliar with biamping. I just skimmed a couple of articles and they all talk about using two amps. Is this the case or is two bridged channels considered two amps. I'm a little clueless on this one.

Can you suggest any where to read up on this and any tutorials or info on building cross overs. I've been reading this site and a couple others. I'm starting to get excited about the upcomming project. Keep the good info comming.

You guys are the greatest. I think I'm gonna burn my door speakers when I get them out. I'll take pictures.

Just bought the p80.4 for $130.

now to go with Dave or Tony hmmmmmmmmm

What's the benefit to making my crossovers as opposed to buying some like the ones Tony suggested?

Making you own will allow you to use the components I suggested. You can use the actual specs from the speakers to build your own. I will be posting some pics shortly of some home grown crossovers I built.

Keep this in mind...If you have a 500.00 set of components, 50% of that is retail markup (less if bought on line so will will go with 35%). So now, the mfg charges the retailers 325.00 to buy them. They are also making a hefty markup, lets say 50% over material costs) now the component set costs 160.00 drivers and crossovers to build. What I am trying to show is if you take some of the markups out of the equation, things can get very affordable. This is why I'm a big DIY fan. The soundstream Exact components ranged from about 300-400.00 depending on size. You could buy the mid for 35.00, the tweeter for 25.00 and the crossover for 15.00 from parts express.com. 150.00 total....

With proper integration, the Hi-Vi/Morel combo has more potential but will require some tweaking. For ease of use and drop in performance, Tony's suggestions are probably the way to go.

Here are some good acoustic calculators.

Ok Dave, I'll go with your suggestions if you help me with the crossover design. I'm gonna start a new topic to discuss it in later tonite after some research on my part. Can't wait to see your pictures.

Before you buy that tweeter, you may want to check out the door panels to make sure you can make them fit. I chose the smallest ones, but they are still fairly deep at a little over 2".
