To answer your question, the cons are it makes the car pretty loud, especially if you already have exhaust work done...That's only negative if you don't like your car loud...Pros are good torque gains that you will be able to feel...Plus they'll never go bad again...

I was told by Buckshot that parts of the cat could get up into the engine and do harm if they are not gutted properly.....

Please put the MIL in there!! Mine was not working when I went to the dyno this past weekend and it killed not only my performance, but my A/F ratio just flew off the chart when he was testing it. I wish I had my dyno graph to show everyone... although sad to see, there is something to learn from it. I have been running MIL free for almost a year now and paying the price.

The next day, when talking with some other CEG'ers, I was talking about installing a MIL that LoCo gave me. It was different than mine (His bought, mine home made) and how it should make a big difference overall in my car. I still presume that my main cat is statering to clog, just by the numbers I got. A few members didn't even know that the PO420 & PO430 codes could cause you to run rich.

The safest way is to remove the manifolds from the car.

Gutting them while still on the car is a risk that some take, myself included. My mystery mod when fine, but a few others were not so lucky and ended up trashing their engines.

My best advice if you're on a budget & not confident enough to remove exhaust manifolds yourself, would be to buy a set from buckshotmotorsports.com and have a shop install them.

If you're not on a budget, get some MSDS headers.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Personally I'd stay away from gutting the pre-cats. The only thing you'll really gain is the fact that the motor WILL rev alot faster. As far as your CEL, gutting the pre-cats will not make it stay on if you get MIL eliminators. They can either be made by one of CEG "DIY-ers" or you can buy them already made with male/female connectors from Dallas Mustang Good luck to you if you do this though and becareful

I am trying to do a search on MILs

but what are they?

I am guessing a o2 simulator of some type.
