I'm not so sure. The cable shifter has a shorter throw and overall has held up very well. It is a much better design than the cable shifter on the Taurus SHO that was later changed to a rod design. On the SHO the rod was better. On our cars I think they are about the same in durability and the cable does have a shorter throw.
