OK guys here's the deal....
Had a problem about a week ago when I was driving the car it just came to a stop like it was out of gas wouldn't start just sit there and crank.... went back about an hour later fired right up drove it home???? O' the out of gas light came on but I know there was more 1/4 tank left.

Through out the week it'd acted like it was stumbling and hesitating throughout the rpm range...secondaries are kicking in....

Now,
So today I decide to do a little tune up..
I changed the plugs, wires, air filter, pcv valve
And it's worse!!
The car now stumbles spits spudder all the way up the rpm
check the wires the plugs everything seems right..
I'm more than sure I don't want to drive it this way.
Any ideas? Fuel filter???
Any help?
O one more thing the check engine light never came on once.
Thanks,
Rob

Geez!!! I wonder if somehow there's water in your gas tank? Maybe the last fillup you did was bad gas...did you fill it just before this started? I guess it could also be the coil pack too. Does it backfire or anything? It sounds like it could be so many things. You've already eliminated the obvious stuff when you did your tuneup. It sure is odd that the CEL light didn't come on. Keep us posted.....

Maybe the computer program is fried. Try unhooking the Negative battery terminal for about 15-20 minutes. Then hook it back up and maybe the computer will re-adjust itself.

Could be water in the gas like the first reply said. Also, I remember someone describing symptoms like that when their fuel filter was clogged. I change mine about every 20k because the gas around here can be kinda questionable sometimes. Maybe just try changing it and see if that helps....its not expensive and won't hurt. The other thing I can think of would be your fuel pump. But try the filter first, esp if its been in there a while.

Does anyone know if there's a "How-To" on changing the filter?
I see there's one for the pump, how about just the filter...

Thanks,
Rob

From the sounds of your problem, I think that you fuel pump is on it's way out.

I have the exact same prblem with mine.... my CEL isn't on, replaced the fuel filter but no success... Whenever i have a full tank of gas, it doesn't sputter until i have less than 2/3 of a tank. I am at a complete loss as to what to do as well.

My 2000 has the same problem. First occurred with less than 1/4 tank of fuel now happens if less than 1/2. First only occured at low speed/rpm now at 60-70mph can feel hesitation.Backing off the gas seems to lessen the problem.
50K on car problem stared at abut 25/k filters have been changed twice. Is it possible fuel pump or computer is not geeting enough voltage?

I think he's on to something.

Again, start with the cheap things - fuel filter is next, right?

Rob & SESportV, you guys are both looking at the CLASSIC fuel pump failure symptoms. Runs ok when full, starts to miss/lose power as the fuel is used up.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
