Getting out of work while on the road i realized the fan speed was still at low regardless the switch position..

what could be the problem?
am a do-it-yourselfer so with a couple of intructions and locations i will feed you back with how things are going.

Thanks in advance on any light on this issue..

Renee

Under exteneded warranty till 150,000 miles. Heater blower motor is bad. Bring it to Ford they will fix it for free.

Thanks for searching before posting by the way.

blower motor resistor

I'm 99% sure that is the part you need the resistor. It is very easy to replace, passanger side up near the firewall, the gray thing, that is what I believe has failed in your car.

Edit: Link shortened for style.

Your problem different than symptom covered by extended warranty, see here FAQ - Blower works on high only , but indicates problem in same area; i.e., switch, wiring or resistor(motor not involved). Inspection of resistors and wiring thereto suggested and relatively easy (pass footwell on heater duct} inspection of switch wiring requires partial dismantling of dash/console to gain access (effort varies by make, model and year).
Blower switch on high bypasses resistors by providing a direct, but parallel path to ground for ground side of motor. If this path was open then blower works on low, only.
Perhaps simpler to explain this way: if connector is pulled off blower speed switch blower will work on low only. Alternately, normally pulling connector off of resistors will still allow blower to work on high if speed switch on high.
Running a direct ground connection to BK/R terminal of motor will cause high speed.

I do not have the schematic infront of me, but if I remember correctly any components in the resistor pack that fails will result in loosing all fan speeds except high (max fan speed).

The high speed setting is bypassed in the resitor pack. In other words if this pack is blown, the high speed is unafected.

Your problem seems to be the oposite. So I would suspect the switch assembly and possible the wiring.

Can someone corroborate this ??
What does he means by "switch assembly" ?
wiring seems ok
