I shop around every so often, since it is in one's best interest. The best way to have low cost insurance is to not speed or have any accidents. I have found one company though, that I have been with for a bit, and I like: Amica. I found them through: Lowermybills.com
Sounds like a cheezy site, but it searches for you and gives you some options. Or you could always do a Progressive search. They actually do what they say and provide you with other companies as alternatives that you can check out as well. Another thing to help lower insurance costs is to have good credit. Most, if not all, insurance companies will run a credit check on you. I know Progressive does, so be careful about too many hard checks on your credit - it lowers your score.
And to go along with fdunford - the cheapest isn't always the best. And some companies will not be of much help in the event of a claim/accident. Others are better than others, so check their ratings at places such as A.M. Best.
Also, keep in mind that there other factors in addition to the ones mentioned above. Age, gender, and location all play a factor as does distance you drive to/from work/school, or whether or not your vehicle is for business purposes.
