best head unit- Pioneer. Out of all the HUs this one sounded the best best sub- JL Audio. I love bass! best amp- Rockford Fosgate. I have a Punch 100 and everybody thinks I have a bigger amp. I tell them what it is and they are like WTF!

best head unit:
Value: JVC SH909/Nak CD45Z SQ: Clarion 9255(McIntosh)/Sony CDX-C90/Alpine F1/Denon
best amplifier:
Value: JBL BP series (subs only) Value across product line: MTX Single best amp on the market: SS DiVinci or McIntosh MC4000M Very good brands: Brax, McIntosh, a/d/s/, PPI, Soundstream, Linear Power, DEI, xtant, etc....
best sub:
SPL: Digital Designs 9515/MTX RFL/CV Stroker (outdated but still among the best)/Eclipse TI, ID MAX
SQ: Adire Audio Brahma or Lambda PB series with the advantage going to the Lambda for costing 50 percent less.
Best combo/price/package/performance:
Adire Audio Shiva/Blueprint Drivers (all models)/Brahma/
JL Audio W7s need to be mentioned because they are very nice subs, but not the best at anything they do, and they are one of the most expensive subs on the market.
best full range speaker: Jordan JX92s
best component set: Seas Lotus/Rainbow Reference but some home made component sets with custom crossovers would be my choice.
best wiring: KnuKonceptz
best soundproofing: McMaster high temp mastic. There are better performers but not for the $$.
best LCD: I have little to no idea.

No one is listing the hypothetical best,,,but what they have I think...
In my mind and wallet, the best:
HU: Alpine 7949 w/PXA-H600,,,,awesome DAC's...! Speaks: The next Vifa tweeter i am getting, and Peerless CSC-X midbass
amps: Planet Audio tube hybrids HVT572,,incredible sound for the buck.
Sub: well, what else: Lambda Acoustics PB10, 12 or 15... remember the secret is to get the most per dollar, and the most expensive sometimes are not worth that much money.
He's chaaarging!!!...(add scottish accent)...
