pssst! We have a CO state trooper amongst us...let's keep it polite.

Here's a story anyhow -
About two months into my first year of school up there, I was heading through Boulder to pick up a friend and head to NM for a long weekend.
I was in line to turn right on a red. (28th & Baseline) Cop behind me, Maxima in front. Maxima turns, I come to complete stop, I turn, I get pulled over. I was thinking I had a turn signal out or something.

Cop says, "Did you not see the sign that says 'NO TURN ON RED' or what?"
I said, "No, I didn't. I'm not from here (check the NM plates!), I go to school in Greeley, and I don't know the town. Besides, the guy in front of me did the same thing!?!"
Cop says, "Yeah, I was going to pull him over, but you were closer. I"ll be back with your ticket."
I understand that I did something wrong, but I still feel that he could have cut me a break. It's not like I was being deliberately disobedient. If I saw the sign, and was stupid enough to disobey it with a cop right behind me, then I would have deserved the ticket...

But, G*dd*amn, give a kid a break!
