I can tell you I was having the same hard type slip bang shift from 1st to 2nd gear. I went and picked up the improved speed sensor and installed it today on my 95 Mystique. What a huge differance it makes now...smooth as a kitten shifts!!! really suprised me the improvement it made.
Be cautous taking it out...just spray it good with wd40 or something, grab the plug end with a vise grip and twist it side to side, slowly, slowly and pulling out pressure at same time. With taking the extra time, I got it out without
breaking it off. Tapped the new one in with the handle side of a plastic screwdriver and hammer slowly and oiled it and it was done in about 15mins, in and out. I thought my tranny was on its way out...but yep, that baby fixed my problems for sure!
What year are you driving and how many KM do you have on it? I need to do this fix soon.
Mine is a 95 Mystique, with 85,000km. I don't know how anyone could say its rusted...the thing is plastic coated. Its just that its a very tight fit, as is the new one. Just spray it good, grip the outside of the plug head and turn it left and right, left and right until its able to spin 360 in the hole...then slowly turn it as you spray and pulling and turning. It has an o-ring that keeps it tight fitting. The new one will just tap in with something other than steel. If you try to force it too soon it might break, just work it slow.
BTW, its $40.00 at the stealership (In the almighty Canadian $$$ ) LOL
