I was thinking of billet con rods when referring to the strengths and weaknesses of sinter-forged ones. I could have sworn that I've read that one of the main benefits of sinter-forged rods were it's uniform weight characteristics, due to one being able to put the precise amount of "shot" down.

Am I all wet here?

I obviously stand corrected on the RPM piece. You must have a LOT of rabbit feet hanging from your rear-view mirror if you didn't crap out the other spinning components in your engine bay. I know raising my rev limiter on my '89 SHO cost me more grief than I could afford at the time in terms of just about everything that had a pulley on it...

Couldn't kill the engine but did just about everything else around it, so I considered it a "hard-knock" lesson!

1. No you are very corrrect. The parts are much more uniform in weight, grain pattern, and consistency.

2. P/S is underdriven about 20% and alternator almost 15%
They have been that way almost as long as I have owned the car.

P/S because it is the largest parasitic drag and alternator for longevity.

I was hoping that maybe the stock internals wtih a bit of machining could take that kind of RPM for something of a cheap ( if doing labor yourself) increase in power. Honestly, I can't really justify paying 3-4k for a turbo kit only to get high 13s out of a contour when i see Mustangs and Fast Fords mounting a blower and heads to a Mustang gt and getting 540 RWHP. Maybe ill just do that instead and get RWD too...

If you wanna go fast for cheap, you got the wrong car.
