My opinion = I don't like 8" woofers in the door.
I prefer the sound (and it does better in SQ+ competitions) of 6 3/4" mid-basses.
To help make up for a lack of bass I then go with the larger mid-range.
1.25" tweeter I currently have (and its 5 years old now) is a Soundstream THX tweeter.
Great sound!
I think, my opinion again, that a properly powered/crossed-over/& mounted subwoofer should provide all the bass necessary for a system and it should be omni-directional.
