i dont know if anyone else happen to be watching the nashville predators vs. calgary flames game tonite, or at the least the end of it, but when in the hell did the respect leave the game of hockey...as far as i am concerned, this little situation was a travesty to hockey, not a mere 2-3 weeks after the bertuzzi incident...yes i am a nashville predators fan and watch and love the game of hockey as unbiasedly as possible, but as far as i am concerned, every calgary flame, especially oliwa, that was on the ice when that last puck was dropped should be fined and or suspended...all that [censored] was totally unnecessary and uncalled for, greg johnson was tackled and beaten while he was down, dan hamhuis was tackled and beaten while he was down, and shane hnidy was crosschecked from behind and had to be helped off the ice and back to the locker room...the calgary flames, including coach sutter, conducted themselves in a way extremely unbecoming of the game of hockey, and after what i witnessed, i am sad to say that they are part of this exciting time in the nhl....

for those of you who may be lost, check sports pages and sportcenter on sunday and monday morning to be filled in, or the internet overnight.....

Not to mention Toronto's Wade Belak slashing Avalanche's Ossi Vaananen in the head tonight (with intent to injure)...

The NHL's disciplinary enforcement is a complete joke these days. The officiating is even worse.

that was one of the things too, the officiating...as soon as nashville had scored an empty net goal with like 3 seconds left, that is when all hell broke loose and you could tell immediately the officials did not have any control whatsoever....they should have stopped the game then and everybody gone home....

I remember watching WI Badgers hockey games late at night on TV. Those where free for alls!!!! Very fun to watch, the fights that is but completely pointless. It's sad that Hockey is going downhill like this I myself don't watch much sports anymore, they all are full of overblown egos. There needs to be stricter rules and enforcement of them to make the game better. Just my .02 though

It's ice hockey. You can only whine about this kind of stuff so much. Go watch some games from twenty years ago and tell me it's too rough now.

I stopped watching hockey about 10 years ago, the last season i watched was when the Quebec Nordiques moved and became the Colorado Avalanche, back then it was fun cause that was what hockey was all about... the game, and the guy with the biggest salary and the only one to have a multi-million contract was the one who actually made goals(Gretzky, Lemieux).

Now they have big a$$ contracts and they only have 20 goals or so a year with a good season having if there lucky about 100 pts.

IMHO all the ego stuff and inflated contracts went out the roof when Eric Lindros came into the NHL, he hadn't prooved himself and was almost making the same amount as a Gretzky or Sakic.

It was actually exciting to watch a game that was opposing the Montreal Canadians vs the Quebec Nordiques, when you saw guys like Lafleur, Robinson, Naslund, Roy, Sakic,the Stastny brothers and Goulet, you knew that some hockey was going to be played, and on the other hand when you saw guys like Kordic, Mcrae ,Nilan you knew somebody is going to get an a$$ whoppin'

there are way too many teams in the NHL. the NHL went south as soon as they changed the names of the conferences. eastern and western whats that?? we need to go back to old time hockey, eddie shore hockey.

nashville shouldnt even have a team.

yeah i am a hawks fan. even through this very tough few years. that is what makes a fan, a fan. it is easy to back a team when they are winning but you find out who the true fans are when they follow a team that sucks it hard. no fair weather here.
