I just read a P0136 code on my car. I know this code indicates O2 sensor malfunction in Bank 1 Sensor 1. My questions are: where exactly is this sensor, and will MIL eliminators fix the problem? Thanks.

P0136 is for bank 1 sensor 2 (O2S12), not sensor 1(O2S11).

O2S12 is downstream of the precat for the rear (firewall side) bank and is easily accessible from under the car.

Yours is being read by the computer as being dead. I would recommend performing an inspection to ensure that the wires and connectors are not damaged or otherwise open.

About $66 for the correct sensor from AutoZone. Cheaper elsewhere.

Well, you already bought the sensor. Hopefully, they sold you the one for the downstream side and not the upstream.

Anyway, I had a CEL code for the Bank 1, Sensor 2 recently. It turned out to be merely the sensor wires being too close to the exhaust. No damage to the wires and when I tie-wrapped it out of the way the CEL went off.

Dammit! I think I bought the upstream one. It is part #13115. I had two sensors replaced by the stealership, but I don't know if they were the up or downstream ones. The part number on those was F5RZ-9F472-B.

Yes, you bought an upstream sensor from AutoZone.

The dealer replaced the upstream sensors under that part number.
