How hard do you think it would to replace my zetec engine and tranny with an SVT engine and tranny? Forget cost, I'm just talking about the swap difficulty. I will need the engine, tranny, wiring harness, and computer I know. Anything else? Anyone ever attempt to do it?

Once you have all the parts it shouldn't be that difficult because all of the mounting brackets etc would be the same from model to model.

Only one question, why? A turbo zetec would be the ish! So much more feasible and cost effective.

You will also need a new subframe.

just tossing around some ideas. What about the jackson racing supercharger for the zetec focus? Has anyone tried that out?

I don't think we've got the hood clearance for it. Also you'll need all the engine mounts as well, plus exhaust hookups. Basically unless you bought a wrecked SVT with no damage to the subframe for cheap, it would be much cheaper to put a turbo on your car and have more fun with the lighter weight.

Somebody CLAIMED they had the jrsc on their zetec contour. Never really proven, though it's a waste of money, get a turbo.

i would say turbo also. more flexible when it comes to mounting and install. im just guessing but you will probally need a stronger tranny. wouldnt a turbo zetec weigh less than a duratec. if so that would be one great bennefit.

Find a donor car (V6). Then you've got it made. I'm going to do a zetec - 3L swap hopefully within the next year. My 4 banger's up to 107K on it, and starting to do lifter ticks amongst other niceties. I'm not rebuilding a zetec.

with a turbo setup you could be giving all the 3L guys a run for their money for much less...

But why not? You could then do a turbo on your 3L after the swap. Then give the mustang guys a run for their money.
