Alright I did a search and didnt really find anything on the cost of painting the entire car. I only did a search in the Northeast forums cause thats where Im from. Im pretty sure I coulda found something in one of the other forums, but I want a real idea on the cost in an area that Im actually able to drive to within reason.
Basically what I wanna do is get my entire car repainted. I wanna do either black, white or silver. Mostly because those are the 3 easiest colors to match when it comes down to custom parts, most notably repainting the dash and such.
If anyone in the NE area knows a rough price for a decent paint job (something where they actually paint the whole exterior and door frames kinda thing, everything under the carpet and whatever else is hidden can stay beige cause noone will really be seeing it) where I can just get either a gloss coat or metal flake preferably. I just wanna know what the general pricing of this would be so I know how much Ill need when I wanna get it done.
Also if anyone knows of some reputable places in Jersey (pretty much willing to drive anywhere in Jersey and not too far into PA or NY) that will do a good paintjob with a pretty reasonable price.
I know Ill get flamed cause its probably somewhere on the boards that I didnt look. That or Ill get told to go to places and get quotes. Which would be fine but everything by me closes before Id be able to get to them during the week. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry, we won't flame you in this forum! Where are ya in NJ? That might give us an idea of some shops that would be within your travel range.

to be honest, there are a lot of variables with painting a car....location, kind of paint/color, if there is any kind of body work/scratches/rust and of course how many coats of paint/primer/clear coat you are going to use as well....once you figure out the equation, you could ask around to people who have had it done and see there work or you can get estimates yourself. it could be any where from 2,000 to 8,000 believe it or not. you can usually get a very decent paint job for about 2-3000 dollars....

I'm getting two similar quotes right now actually. A place in Penndel called Mastercraft. Top notch guys they are. I'm getting a quote for a respray in black (current color) and another for a complete repaint in an entirely different color. Obviously if you are serious about it any shop willing to do the work will ask to see the car b/c the body condition will determine the final cost. If you're interested in this place they are right off the PA turnpike, exit 351. If you're further north there's supposedly a really good place on Freemansburg Ave in Palmer Twp right off of 78 up near Easton.

My cars in pretty good condition overall. I had a huge dent in my rear passenger side door but I went to the junkyard and got another one for real cheap, but the beige isnt the same shade as the one I have. Found out that it came off a 98 or newer so its not as faded, it also had a lil gouge in it right above the window that can easily be filled by me.
Im in South Plainfield New Jersey, right in Middlesex County. If youre looking at a map of Jersey Im pretty much right where the armpit is (Jersey looks like an armpit no lie) and thats right where I am.
I kinda figured that a completely new paint job would be more expensive then a repaint, but was wondering if it wouldnt be too bad cause I have a color thats almost close in color to the white and silver (more along the silver line) and that black would be pretty easy to use over any color. Personally I wanna get it done in either silver or black (more hopeful to silver as its lower profile as far as getting pulled over goes I think) and was hoping it was relaively easy.
The only physical damage is just a few dings in the door and some paint chips on the side skirts, front bumper, and a few scrapes on the rear bumper where I had to have my friend push me with his truck. Overall theres just that one lil gouge that even I can fill.
I was thinking about doing the paint myself. When I had mechanics class in HS one of my projects was to strip the paint off a car. Im pretty sure if need be I can do that myself, but would prefer to have everything done professionally as I wanna make sure all the proper paint is removed. Im pretty positive that I couldnt do the paint myself because I dont have anywhere that Id be able to paint without dust and dirt getting on the paint. My garage is kinda full of [censored] and I cant pull it in there so itd end up getting done on the street, which I know that it would get [censored] up due to either weather or wind blowing leaves and crap on it. As cool as it might be to just paint it camo green and leave the leaves stuck on so I can blend in with the trees on the highway and avoid cops, thats not what Im going for.
I was thinking about hitting up Maaco cause I got something in the mail about an imperial paint job for only 300 bucks. But then I thought to myself "Self. Do you want a good paint job or just wanna throw a few buckets of paint on your car and pay 300 bucks for it when you can do it yourself?" and realized that Maaco would do a slightly better job then what Id be able to do with a paint brush and some paint.
Im probably gonna end up having to take a day off work and check out the phone book for a few places and bring my car there to get a real quote. But Im hoping that I can get a general idea of how much to look for when painting my car. Especially being that anyone thats gotten theirs done a new color on here in the area Im in would have a pretty damn close price. Being that its the same thing everyone else on heres driving.
Thanks for everyones help. Keep it coming cause I know I sure as hell need it!
