Although the thought does seem pleasing at first, that is the stupidest thing we could do. If we nuke the crap out of that region of the world, then a massive portion of the oil reserves will no longer be accessible due to the high concentration of radioactive fallout that would remain. Imagine the effect on the world economy if something like half the worlds oil reserves suddenly becomes unavailable. Anybody remember that thread on "Peak Oil" posted a couple weeks ago?
