I lived in California for for about 6 years, and my hub was born & raised there. He only spent 3 years away from California until we moved here to South Carolina and I can tell you this.... BOTH of us were honking our horns and flashing our headlights the moment we crossed the state line into Arizona, when moving to SC.
I would prefer to be in Florida right now, but we are stuck in this sh!t hole until the Air Force decides it's time for us to go. I would honestly rather be back in California than here though. The main reason for our moving, besides being military, was the fact that California is too expensive to live in, and it's not worth it.
Houses in northern California, where we lived, started at $300,000 for a 2 bedroom. We payed WAY too much rent, WAY too much electric because PG&E's bigwigs couldn't trim their spending habits, WAY too much in car registration.... $250 a year for my Tour, compared to the $27 for two years we pay here. It just wasn't worth it anymore. My hub was a postal worker before coming back into the military, and I managed the local Subway sub place.
BUT, we all have to remember, where anyone chooses to live is THIER opinion. So Packrat doesn't like California, who the hell cares. I don't either, but for him to get yelled at for voicing that opinion is childish. Get over it and grow up.
