Well I started out by cutting the entire half of the door panel off...that was pretty cool/scary smile Then I made a mold out of cardboard/hotglue and tape. Fiberglass resin'ed that, lots of sanding, and finally lightweight body filler. It took about 2 whole weeks to complete both doors. It was kinda just an experiment to see what it would look like. I had the picture in my head of what I wanted it to look like but wasn't sure how to get it there. The screws in the plexiglass...I stumbled on this also. I needed to hold the plexiglass in the door for a few days until I designed the other way I was gonna hold it. Turns out I liked the screws in it because they were the same screws used to install the speakers and it really matched well with that and my aluminum cones. So I spaced them out better and did it. I was extremely happy with the results. The hardest part has been putting the 2 pieces back together and covering the new half with vinyl. I've had to re-cover it twice due to bad glue. I'm pretty sure I fixed that this time though...knock on wood. They weigh about 20 pounds each though, but like I said before I don't race so it really doesn't matter. oh and both doors shut like they were new...effortlessly.

I'm a DETAIL FREAK and did think of that but hey, you were the first one to notice...or at least say something about it. wink

sooo...I asked my wife about the arms. I wasn't sure if I should cover them or not. She said not to because it'll look stock that way...like the felt I put there came with the car. I agreed, but wasn't sure at the time. Now I like it that way and think she was right. It looks better in person.

Thanks!![/b]
Why not use some of those black brush type things that they use on the sides of escalators... (sorry about my highly technical description  ) Very impressive install, I've been silently following your progress for quite some time now, and I am extremely impressed...

well I thought about that too...see I am a freak! laugh But it was hard to find exactly what I was looking for. I was just going to buy a nice horse hair brush, cut the hair off and hot glue it neatly to some wood for the same effect...still might if the other way doesn't last down the road...But then my wife spotted these long rubber squeege thing's laminated to hard plastic. We decided this would be eaiser to manufacture and may look a little more professional and original. So we bought them...damn they were expensive. They work adn look great. Hopefully they will last!!

Thanks!!!!

Can you expand on the features of that crossover, and how do you like it and why you chose it?

Pretty much the only reason I choose the LDX-23 was because it was tubed and it used XLR cables. This matched the rest of my system at the time. The features on it are ok but not the greatest in the world but they work for me for now. Eventually I would like to upgrade that to something better.
