The shame of it is that those same people a decade back were screaming for the UN to setup weapons inspections over suspicions of his WMD stockpiles because of the overt FEAR that Hussein would try and use them again. Fast forward to today; the US and it's allies do something about the matter to settle the nagging question and threat once and for all, then get stabbed in the back by those same countries that UNANIMOUSLY supported the UN resolutions due to the intelligence gathered, shared and AGREED upon by all parties.

It's a sad commentary on the left-leaning media in the US and abroad that this is totally swept under the carpet and forgotten...

I think it will (fairly soon) be much clearer to all why to UN (really the UN security counsel...really France, Russia, and to a lesser degree Germany) stabbed us in the back. Charges of France's corrupt oil deals, the oil for food scam and the French bank involved, the intel France gave Iraq on inspectors and secret meetings, Russian oil and weapons deals, etc. etc. Kerry and the liberal leadership...well a blade in the back (and a flip flopping vote) is the only chance at the white house. The leftist media...well, sweeping the truth under the rug is what they do best. Trouble for the left is now the conservatives have at least a chance at a media voice with Fox and Rush, both of which continue to gain popularity. Really, without this the left would win easily.

Again, the whole WMD thing is a distraction. Bush's 3 stated reasons for war were 1) WMD (intel may or may not have been wrong here...fine, investigate intell) 2) stop the murdering of millions 3) the MOST important reason: change the face of the middle east. Which means demonstrating our resolve and power to decapitate a government that has defied sanctions by the score to allow us to varify destruction of WMD they ADMITTED they had, that harbor terrorists, that finacially supported terror, that WAS BASICALLY A GIANT MIDDLE FINGER IN THE FACE OF AMERICA FOR OVER A DECADE. Then demonstrate (this time) our commitment to follow through with putting people on there feet. To undue decades of anti-US propaganda. To place in the center of the middle east a democraticish form of government. Which along with the other (Afganistan) flank Iran..the core of militant Islam. But also a country with a younger, more pro western population...that wants the Ayetolla's out. And (again) we are seeing the shock waves hitting Libya, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabi (400 AlQueda captured since 9/11, including the top regional goon that was shot yesterday!) and as far as N. Korea.

This is the Bush doctrine...lean on governments to stop or at least not facilitate terror. Requires military force. Long term commitment. And not wavering when the going gets tough.

As opposed to the socialist/liberal policy of France, the new Spain, and John F'n Kerry - "police action" (yeah...send the "cops" to Iran), plenty of waivering when things get tough, and a commitment to stay in power . Or even in case of Spain & France at least ..appeasment?

Not that the devoute liberals will be effected by this commentary...more aimed at the more open minded.
