My passenger front window will not roll down. I have a 2000 SVT Contour. I do not use the passenger front window very much but the last time when I used it, it was rolling up pretty slow. That was about 2 months ago. Now it will not roll down at all. I did take off the door panel and the switch is good and the motor is getting power. I went to the Haynes manual to find out how to remove the window regulator. The Haynes instructions require the window to be rolled down in order to remove the window regulator. Problem is that the window is rolled up and the motor does not work. Went to this site and searched on what to do. Found an answer: cut the cable on the regulator and the window will come down. Is this the best way to do this or is there another way?
I am a little disappointed that the passenger front window regulator died. I must only use it a tenth of what I use the passenger front window. The rear windows work and they also do not get used very much. I noticed that this seems to be a problem in many Contours. This window regulator should not be going out like this!
