45 minutes for a wash! Hehe, that's some serious dedication there Cookie. 10 minutes tops (on a slow day for me). My car looked like junk when I got it, so I don't really care too much.

With Meguiars coming out with their new NXT (synthetic polymer) Zaino is in trouble as its a similiar product and is readily availble This NXT is the best stuff to work with as it goes on easy and comes off even easier The price is $16.00 for an 18 oz bottle and comes with an applicator pad thats the same color as the bottle. I've also bought a sample size of Griots garage "best of show" wax and fine hand polish and an 8 oz tub of their Caranuaba wax which is 33% caranuaba and its another GREAT product and will more than likely be my main product line I agree with the previous post stating its all about preperation. Doing things in step will net you a better result, clay, cleaner, polish and finishing wa

Is the NXT really worth the price ($14 here)? Think it will drop some?

Now that's 45 minutes to get out the hose, bucket, etc., wash the car, scrub the wheels/tires, etc. I don't just rinse and dry. I don't mind putting in the time. I had a guy ask me last summer when I got my car repainted. I told him Ford did it back in 2000.

Anyway, I'm gonna go try this Eagle 1 stuff out right now.

Well it's 5pm, so wash/wax took me just under 2 hours, methinks. First of all, let's talk product. I got the Eagle One Nanowax from Auto Zone for $10 with a $10 mail-in rebate, so it's not free yet. Open the box and there is a sponge-like applicator pad and a microfiber towel included. The applicator pad has a kinda rough ring around the edge, I wouldn't advise using this pad, other than for the wheels. I used it, but I folded the edges in so I could grip it easier and the edge wouldn't touch the car anyway. The microfiber towel kicks azz. Plain and simple. It's just a 12" square, but it's absorbant enough to take the wax off the entire car. Well, until you drop it on the floor. Luckily, I have a bunch more towels, but they are all 100% cotton towels that leave a little bit of lint. I will be replacing my detail towels and rags with microfiber towels very soon. They're that good. The wax is in a pump bottle that was a little awkward to work with for me. I don't mind it being a pump bottle, I actually like the idea, but the shape of the bottle is kinda hard to hold for a long time. The directions say to put a silver dollar sized plop of wax on the pad at a time. Well gang, that silver dollar sized plop did the entire front driver's door and part of the rear door. From then on, I just used a couple drops each time. I made a "Z" or a little smilely face. Anyway, the wax goes on incredibly smooth, despite the rather rough (almost abrasive) aplicator pad. I started on the driver's side. At first, I did both driver's doors and the rear quarter panel. This took just a few minutes. After I did, I got the mail out of the mail box and came back to the garage. The wax was already dry and came right off. Removal of the E1 Nanowax is very very easy. It goes on easy, and comes off easy; especially when you use the supplied microfiber towel. Heck, the box says it's "easy to remove, no white residue", and it ain't lying.

Eagle 1's new Nanowax says it "fills fine scratches and conceals swirl marks". I agree. I've got hella swirl marks that can be seen under intense light (as in my garage) and in direct sunlight. Now, the E1 doesn't completely remove the swirl marks, that'd be crazy! But it did mask them a lot. The paint is a lot smoother looking and the marks are almost hidden. I mean, you can still see them, but they are a lot less visible now. This is a great product.

Sure it looks good, but the real test (for me anyway) is how smooth it is. My previous wax set-up was all Zaino. Here's the list:
Z16...clay bar..................$18.95
Z1....polish lock...............$08.95
Z2....polish.....................$12.95
Z6....gloss enhancer spray.$09.95
Z7....wash concentrate.....$07.95

Total.........................$58.75

After a wash, I would finish the car with the Z6 gloss enhancer spray for an incredibly slick finish. The Z2 polish has a very deep luster to it; an immaculate shine.

But how does the E1 Nanowax compare? Well boys and girls, after a wash and wax, the E1 is just as smooth, if not slightly smoother. Yes, there you have it, the E1 freebie beats or ties my $60 barrel of Zaino, IMHO. Now, bear in mind the clay bar has helped both products (Z2 and E1) and I still use the Z7 wash. I didn't use the gloss enhancer spray on the E1, I'm curious how that would turn out, quite honestly.

Now here's the thing: I compared the Eagle 1 to Zaino's Z2 polish, not to be confused with Zaino's Z5-which is more-or-less the same product. Z5 is Zaino's wax for swirls and fine scratches. The real comparison would be between Z5 and this E1. I have a bottle of Z5. I thought about doing half the car with one product and the other half with the other, but I didn't because I'm lazy. In order to get a true side by side comparison, I would need to clay bar the entire car and start over again, which is not what I wanted to do today. Instead, I'm going to the drive in theater with my lady friend.

So what's the verdict? Go buy a bottle of this stuff! It works great, especially considering IT'S FREE!!

Edit: I looked at the post times of this post and the one before it. I started typing this post at 4:58 and didn't finsh until 5:30!

Double edit: Now it's just after 6 and I've finished my letter to E1. BTW-you have to enclose comments >15 words in order to get your rebate.

Seeing that its $2.00 cheaper there its really worth it and even if it was the price it is here($15.99), it would still be worth it, trust me Like I said, its easy to apply and even easier to remove and I guarantee you'll love using it! For what its worth, its Roger R approved J/K guys, don't take me to serious, I don't!

Once I get my car detailed (hopefully soon), I'll begin waxing it. I have to find a decent place to detail it though. My brother works at a car wash, and the way they detail it wouldn't do crap for my car.

First off, why would you need to wax it after its been detailed Secondly this is one thing I suggest doing yourself, its pretty easy once you learn the steps and it just takes a little time and once your done you can say "hey, I did that!"
