I need help! Had a guy replace my serpentine belt and rear center motor mount last week. Since then, when I give it hard throttle, it feels like I am putting on the brakes. If I let off the gas and use easy throttle, it seems to gradually accelerate. I have replaced plugs, wires, coil, thermostat housing, thermostat and upper radiator hose within the last week. I cleaned maf sensor no difference. It is a manual trans.
When he lifted the motor to replace the mount, could he have knocked a sensor loose? or when he was installing the belt? Car has 118k miles on the clock. I would hate to have to pay dealer 95.00 diagnostic fee. I replaced the fuel filter last year. I will prob just replace it again in case of small obstruction. Don't know where to go from here?

Also replace air filter last month and I have NO CEL!!!

You don't have to lift the engine to replace any of the mounts or belts.
I suggest taking the car back to this guy and ask him what he was doing.

That should clear up why he pulled the engine.

Sorry man, I have no idea either.

No, it doesn't. You need to jack up the engine, not pull it, or there's a mount in there I don't know about.
I've replaced 4 mounts on my car mtx zetec so far (right, left/tranny, front, rear), none of them took more than 30 minutes and sure I didn't pull the motor.
That's why I don't understand what he says.

He did not "pull the motor" He jacked it up to install the motor mount. Spoke to the mechanic and he will check the car out mon or tues. Thanks for all the feedback. I will let you all know what happened

I'm getting this right now. I think it's normal, it always happens when I pull the neg battery cable and reset the computer. This will make the compy re-learn the idle and a/f ratio. Takes a couple days. Might want to wait it out a bit. If you find a problem after tho, maybe there is something minutely wrong.

Mechanic checked fuel pressure. Said it was 28 psi. Shop manual states 35-45 necessary. Bit the bullet and replaced with Ford pump. 199.00 + 50.00 labor. Not 1 bit of difference. Still falls flat on face when gas is applied hard. When I tested a different set of plugs (champions) no differnece at all.
Took it to Ford dealer and they said the fuel injectors need to be "flushed" and the spark plugs should be Motorcraft and that was thier solution. (Forgot to take the champions out)The wanted 125.00 for the flush and another 125.00 to replace 4 plugs. What a joke! I told them to flush the injection system because it sounded logical. I picked up the car and nothing changed. I pulled out of the parking lot took 5 minutes and replaced the plugs with new motorcraft and brought the car right back and said try again...................we'll see what they make up next. This repair cost me 125.00+ 89.95 diagnostic. What's next?

Could this be a cam timing issue? Is it possible that when he changed out the serp belt that he may have advanced or retarded either or both of the cams? The problem is really close to what I had once in a 76' Torino. I accidentally had the timing advanced by almost 10 degrees and it would die almost every time I tried to open it up, but if I accellerated slowly, it had no problems. Of course, I'm not a mechanic so I could be way off here...
