WRONG!
How about this proven fact? At night, for every 5mph over 55 you drive, your require an extra 3 seconds to respond to an emergency! What does this mean? Driving 55mph, a child/deer/car pulls out. It takes you about 3 seconds to 1) see whats going on
2) decide you need to slow down
3) move your foot from the gas to the brake
4) get the car slowed down enough or stopped to do
something about the emergency at hand

Now we are drving 83, lets round that to 85... Now the child/deer/car pulls out this time. We are 20mph over the 65mph limit, so that equals about 12-15 seconds to do all of the above steps! Do you really think that going 85 is the same as 65??? Now with all these problems you have with your eyes, since you were damn near impared by a spotlight, I would say that your time would be alot higher than 15 seconds. Try this next time your driving at night on an empty road, before you get in the car, tell your passanger to give you an emergency to react to going 65.

Now, your reaction time will be slightly faster, because your brain is hearing the signal to stop, not your eyes seeing and having to interpret you needing to stop. You will see what I am talking about.

I had the lovely experiance of getting to know what happens when a car slams into the back of an 18 wheeler at a stop light at 65mph. Passanger decapatated by the round bar under the bumper, driver had his seat break before he was decapatated, so he just had the bar lodged in his mouth. All he could do was gurgle blood for a short time before he died. Grow up and quit speeding like that, cause its not only your life that you affect.

Damn... Sounds like the class you majored was in Drivers Education
