Alright guys. I'm about to go face to face with you all and say I'm considering Maaco for my *possible* SVT Bodykit. Common sense tells me, the cheaper the price the outcome will not be nice! Even so, Maaco did a good job on my friends car (besides painting part of her old muffler ). I was wondering, if they have a warranty and if I put the kit on myself I could save alot of cash couldn't I. No 3,000 dollar paintjobs here. If anyone's had their cars painted by Maaco let's see some pics! I'm anticipating a bodykit badly.. my pre 98 SE front and rear have taken some bad ice banks

How much is Maaco asking?? You might want to try a reputable small bodyshop business in your town. I had a local body shop here paint my kit and mount it for $400.

if you actually prep the bodykit yourself, youll have a better chance of the paint lasting longer and not flaking. Prepping is my biggest concern about maaco.. Sometimes i think they just spray over whatever is there without even sanding, cleaning, etc.

i wish i could get good detail pics of how they did on my van...it sucked, they didnt sand the old paint or prime it. all the old scratches and chips are still there. and the silver they were supposed to put on mixed with the old dark blue on there so now its purple

Ditto. If you take care of the primer, sanding etc, it may turn out decent. Are they painting it off the car?

I paid for the best paint maaco has,and they mixed the paint wrong and it came apart in 10 months.peeling and the color changed! I was told by an emplyeee that a $200 paint job was the same as a $900 paint job.The mechanic did an very good job with the spraying, but the quality of the paint suck

A guy i work with used to work at maaco and actually got fired for doing too good of a job. They wanted him to do between 9 and 15 cars per day and he was only doing 3-5 because he was actually doing it how it should be done. He told me never to get a paint job there because they don't prep it right. Although if you preped it yourself it might turn out alright.

My daily driver Mirage has the cheap Maaco paint job on it. So far it hasn't peeled or flaked and its been about two years, although there is overspray like crazy.
