I am looking to see what kind of sound other Contour owners are getting from their stereo. I am interested to find out what kind of system others have? (# of speakers, location of speakers, power, etc.) Also how the system is installed? (location of speakers, type of boxes, porting, etc.) What SPL & RTA numbers are people getting?

Sony CDX-C910 Sony XDP-210EQ McIntosh MC440M Adire Audio Shiva (sealed .707 qtc) MB Quart 218.03 something or another for the front, MB Quart coaxs for the rear.
This is what I had a year ago before I totalled my car. The only things I would change would be to get rid of the quarts.

Do you know what kinda SPL or RTA numbers you were getting?
I am having a probelm getting over 140dB inside the car. Also my RTA is hovering around 30-32.
My system wasconsistently recorded at 148dB and 38-39 (at IASCA events) in a previous car.

My SQ setup:
JVC Digifine 2.1 KD-SH77 (CD deck/tuner) PPI DEQ230 (30 band eq) Xtant X604 amplifier (4x75 watt amplifier) Xtant XIS2.5 (5.25" 2-way point source driver located in kick panels) JL Audio 8IB4 (8" subwoofer in OE front door location behind OE panel)
Sound Quality: very impressive. (see sig below) RTA: with a different setting, a flat line is possible every time (but it sounds horrible that way) SPL: enough to shake you in your seat at 18Hz, but otherwise it is "loud enough". A dB number is irrelevant. Note: I have another X604 powering two Xtant 12" subs that I use to develop 130+ dB. These are not on for sound quality evaluations.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I used to run IASCA, trophy at finals.
Two Soundstream 10" subs with 150 RMS each, PNR ports, spare tire well enclosure, see profiles under Michael Robertson. I was hitting 142.1db at 32hz. I sold them to help mod the Contour.
Kirk Perry in VanWert, Ohio helped me tune it.
Go Dynaudio for SQ, and forget about it!
98 T-Red Contour LX V6 Mtx 106k miles 9" K&N, Aussie Pipe, Dual Mode Damper, 19lb. injectors, SHM MAFterburner, Ford 9mm Wires, Mystery Mod, ShoShop Off-road Y pipe, Dynomax Resonator and Muffler, 2.5" custom cat-back.

My system never competed, so its hard to say how well it sounds besides my own opinion and friends. My ruler is my home system, which i took pains to try to match well, with good component synergy.
Swapping speakers has made the biggest improvement, and or change...followed by upgrading the HU and processor. The equipment is listed in my signature. Morel's have been replaced by the Peerless CSC-X drivers i had before. The tweeters are mounted in the inside of the mirror plastic trim (where defrost air goes) and the mids are in the front doors.

My setup as it stands right now; Alpine CD Player w/ 4V pre-out Soundstream BLT (balanced line transmitter) AudioControl Four.1 (pressing out 13.5V of pure signal) AudioControl ESP-2 (simulating my center stage) AudioControl EQX Soundstream Ref300 (75W x 1 Channel) --> Lightning audio 1F cap --> 2 12" Phoenix Gold Saphire Subs (Wired in parallel) (I have the subs in parallel to decrease to 2ohms, but then I added them in series with 8 50W/50Ohm power resistors, this gives me a super stable 8Ohm load on the amp, it also increase the amount of current, giving me a nice 37.5W per sub actual, but it performs like 300W per sub, this setup is so very beneficial in competitions.) Soundstream Ref404s (40W x 4 channels) --> Infinity REF605CS (6.5" w/ 1") --> Infinity REF5752CF (5"x7" two-way) The subs are housed in a ported band-bass box. The box was designed and tuned for the subs (1.75 cubic feet and tuned to optimize 32-64Hz range).
My problem is not the setup but has something to do with the car, my RTA line drops 6dB between 500 and 1kHz. This is also causing my a 12dB loss on SPL. Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem? If its related to a something on the car soaking up the energy at those frequencies. I have dynamat throughout almost all of the car.
