If you have an ATX, I would not suggest you go with 17's unless you are just modding the car for look's. If you do, that is about all it will be good for. An ATX already has enough drive train loss to kill a horse and adding 17's just increase's that loss.

Just trying to tell the truth here. Ask Hector! He can tell ya first hand. Although the car will handle better, the top speed and overall striaght line performance will fall.

There will be a dyno in HSV, right? I will bet cha!!

I went back and did that Miata Tire calculater and it shows that with your new tires on the 17's you have, that puts you at almost the exact same measurement as my stock 15's, sooo I shall eat my words...
