It's not too hard to build a 200+ HP/TQ NA engine.
2.4L bottom end, 2.3L ported head & cams, 2.3L crank pulley, et cetera.
Even with that said and in it's "detuned" setup in the 96+ J-body it made a respectable 150HP and 155TQ on 87 octane. The cars only weigh around 2525-2650lbs.
The MTX's (any variant) are sloppy and rubbery. The 4spd ATX is outstanding and you know I'm not a slushbox fan.
Decent is the key word. For the engine size, that's no better than a lowly zetec. In fact, zetec makes more power per liter. And the zetec definitely isn't the king of 4cyls. So while the cavy engine is OK for mods, it's just that. No better than the zetec or any other decent newer 4cyl out there. And it's still an ugly *** car.
