The 2.4L is a decent engine. It has a fair amount of mods available for it too.
It's not too hard to build a 200+ HP/TQ NA engine.
2.4L bottom end, 2.3L ported head & cams, 2.3L crank pulley, et cetera.
Even with that said and in it's "detuned" setup in the 96+ J-body it made a respectable 150HP and 155TQ on 87 octane. The cars only weigh around 2525-2650lbs.
The MTX's (any variant) are sloppy and rubbery.
The 4spd ATX is outstanding and you know I'm not a slushbox fan.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

It is funny (and kind of backwards) how GM is so good at auto boxes and pushrod motors

I think those cars weighed more than that. My ex's Sunfire was a fat pig, felt heavy as hell.

Decent is the key word. For the engine size, that's no better than a lowly zetec. In fact, zetec makes more power per liter. And the zetec definitely isn't the king of 4cyls. So while the cavy engine is OK for mods, it's just that. No better than the zetec or any other decent newer 4cyl out there. And it's still an ugly *** car.

Because its what they do best. Look at the LS6.. pushing the specific displacement of our DOHC SVT engines, but its over twice the size and is PUSHROD!! Corvettes are cool.. I just wish everyone and their mother didn't own one, like the Mustang.

Well, I couldn't agree more about seeing them everywhere. For the money, the vet's amazing. Handling, sport, driving enjoyment, etc. I do want a Mustang SVT... hell, I'll take either one.

Pushrods, perhaps. But good at autoboxes, I think not...
I've had too many experiences with their autos in vans and Cavis to say their any good at autos.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Don't have any experience with their slushboxes, don't have anything to add.

In 95 there were 3 AND 4spd autos. I'm guessing this'll make a bigger difference if he had a 3 only. Which does he have. What's the torque of the 2.3L?
