I've got a 95 Mystique that needs to have the Tranny replaced, along with some engine work... and I was wondering if any of you in Southern Cali know of any particular shop that is familiar with the Contique platform, (and that you would recommend because they do a good job ) ?

Thanks in advance guys

We'll,

How much are you looking to spend? Rebuild the tranny or just replace?

Auto or stick?

Its a MTX V6, and I was thinking it would probably be easier to just replace the tranny since the other owner had put 120K on it already The engine that is in there has less than 10K on it, but I need some of the parts off of it for something else, and I'm just going to replace them with the parts from my Cougar's old engine...

And I'm looking to spend as little as possible... I can always supply the tranny myself, and I already have all of the other parts that need to be replaced. So its just a matter of finding a shop that is reliable so I can get an estimate, so I know for sure whether I want to spend the money on this car or not (Since its going to be my beater anyway )

I just need something until my Cougar is put back together this summer, since the other car I was driving is no longer with us

Well,

I can tell you that you will spend aroung a $1000 bucks easily. That is just for labor. Then parts. Might as well replace the clutch, $300. Getting tranny rebuilt, $200.

It could go on and on. Trust me, I have helped with three contour trannys in the last 6 months.

To be honest with you I haven't used any shops out here.

Maybe someone else knows of a good shop.

For the right amount me and harley could do it.
