I just bought a abandoned 1995 contour with out the key.
I was wondering if anyone out there has ever changed one out and if so please advise how to go about doing it.

Apparently the Ford records were not great on Key Codes until 96+. I had an incredibly difficult time trying to find the key codes for my car, and they never did.

However, keep in mind that not only would you need a new ignition lock, but also door locks to match. Your best bet is to start with the Ford Customer Service number. Then, if you have any way to determine the original dealer, give them a call. You'll be far better off getting the key code, and then having a key made, then replacing the ignition.

Good Luck.

The entire lockset/ignition switch comes as a set.
I replaced the whole set after my wife busted off the key in the ignition.
You use a paperclip to release the ignition switch, but the doors were a bit harder.
Once you take the inside panels off of the dorr it is pretty easy.
