hello, my dad just gave me his old 2000 contour SE. its pretty coo. dark red. auto (wish it was stick) anyways. i used to have a Neon, and thank god im finally getting rid of it. I had more problems with that than you could imagine. i was wondering how to get the old ford tape deck out of the dash. it looks like i should stick 4 pins in the corners and it would pop out or something. i want to put in my sony cd player cuz i cant stand the radio.
You can by the tool at most auto parts stores. It looks like 2 u shaped pieces of metal. Ask someone at an auto parts store and they'll know what it is. Good luck
Use the claw end of a hammer, stick it in the tape slot, and yank it out as hard as you can, then urinate on it... that is all... Just do whatever it takes to kill it...

Or the other cheap way to do it (the way i did it) is to get those wire clothes hangers. Make sure they are stiff, yet bendable. Then you cut it and shape 2 small "U"s. stick it into the holes that are on each side of the tape deck. Then pry it out. Worked pretty easily for me, and was MUCH cheaper than going to the store to buythe actual tool. Hope this helps, and have fun upgrading.
haha. I like some of your guys ideas on taking out the deck. I just used the lil U shaped tool that I got when I ordered the CD player from Crutchfield

Find 4 nails at least 2 1/2" long & slide them into the holes. !! BUT you can only remove ( only a little, like 1/4" ) ONE side at a time then the other !! , just play around with it you'll see. The alternative is to buy the tool they mention above but its a one time use thing unless more fords to come in future.
