What you probably need to do is remove the one 8mm bolt that anchors the cap tether and secures the whole ABS (black plastic) fuel door assembly. Remove the fuel cap. If you have the directions on the Bullitt fuel door "How-To" read up on removing the whole assembly...

Otherwise you need to get a firm grip on the assembly by placing you hands on the inside of the ABS liner and twisting approx. 15 degrees counter-clockwise.. At that point just pull straight out...there will be a vent hose attached to bottom reservoir...it pops off pretty easily. Once removed you can see how the stock door is attached to the ABS receiver box. If I remember correctly, you should be able to pop whichever part of the slide/stop assembly that has come loose back into the receiver box.

I hope this helps!! Art

Thanks Art,

I couldn't get the Bullit door install site up yesterday ... now I can. Thanks for the help. Project awaits!

In the end ... all it took was removing the screw that holds the gas cap retention strap and that allowed enough flex in the housing that I was able to pop the filler door back in. As good as new.

Thanks everyone.
