My driver is Soundstream 6.5 SPL's. Could you make a sugestion to help get me started? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. smile
Today equals your lucky day. When I was a installer in Michigan i installed cerwin-vega, rockford fosegate, JL audio, alumapro, and Soundstream. If im not mistaken its .35 cu ft per would most likly get you the best response. Also about 40 watts rms would help. If you do that you should end up with a great deep none boomy sound. Ohh just so you know SPL's are the **** i love them to death one of my friends bought a SPL 12 and i built him a box with only a 200 rms boss audio amp he was hitting 138. The old soundstream was amazing. The new soundstream is sliding down hill.

Any more ?'s

THANK YOU JASON!!!!! laugh Let me go over a few things to be sure we are on the same wavelenght here. My Soundstreams are the 6.5 SPL component set for my front doors. The volume needed for the 6.5 mid woofer would be .35 cu. ft. correct? I also have a set of 5.25 Vifa's for my rear doors that I think I can get the specs for. Let me see if I can get the specs and I'll post them. Maybe you could help me with a volume for those enclosures as well. Thanks! smile smile

Ya thats correct the SPL 6.5 the 6.5 inch componets. I don't even know what Vifa's are. Never hear of them if you get specs tell me as much as you can and ill call some people and get you a good frew response to be about the same as the SPl's

Isn't .35 cubic feet going to be a HUGE enclosure for a door?

Vifa makes the SPLs, IIRC.

its been a long time since i was into this stuff, but as far as i know enclosing home speakers...

sound comes out from the rear of a woofer. ports are used sometimes.

imagine the back bass hitting the back of the midbass driver. it would move it around possibly send sound through it messing up all kinds stuff.

this is one reason.

The difference between .3 and .35 would be neglible. Definitely out of audible range and nothing a few ounces of polyfil would take care of.

My opinion on the subject would be to make yourself a nice baffle, and seal up the door as good as you can before building an enclosure in your car. The idea of using the 'glassed foam baffle doesn't seem too bad. I wouldn't even mind seeing you try to put a aperiodic membrane on the back side of that foam baffle.

Steeda, we all appreciate your advice/help but don't get so upset about others comments.
