ok this weekend i removed the center console and of coarse removed the shifter nob. I have a auto tranny. Well when i pulled the nod to remove it i pulled to hard an the overdrive wires came strait out. I took a quik look wasn't sure how to get the wires back to the button. So advice on how to reinstall will be helpful.

I don't have an automatic so I may be way off, but can you just get a new button and wire it up with the Overdrive wires? Maybe relocate it somewhere? Just an idea..

How close to the button did they disconnect?

The closer to the button the harder they are to reconnect if not damn near impossible.

It's time for you to get an aftermarket shift knob, I suggest the napolex levoc knob. When I changed knobs, I didn't see any way to get the wires to connect back to the stock handle.... Though in the meantime until you get a solution, you can reattach the shift knob and leave wires hanging, if you need O/D off, just touch the wires together... need it back on, touch them together again.

Extend the wires and relocate the button.

i relocated the wires to a switch and put the switch on the panel, right below the shifter.

I took mine out but figured it was too much of a PITA to put them back on the shifter....so I relocated them to the "cubbie hole" on the pre 98 console.

I pulled the shift indicator plate up out of the console on mine and snipped the wires down on the shifter base. I crimped a pair of "bullet" connectors on them so I could remove the shifter and put it back on repeatedly without worrying about the wires. Anyone find an aftermarket shifter handle that might have a button on it for just such a use?
