This is pure BS. Maybe that is what you have been told and if so, I can only blame the people who told you this. Not once did I say they sucked. In fact, I think I praised them. But I can absolutely guarentee you that you would not hear a difference in SQ between an a/d/s/, PPI, Brax, McIntosh, Phoenix Gold, xtant, etc. and a zapco. They are all excellent amps, but the zapco is not the last word in amplifiers.
and also, an oval speaker is not going to be able to reproduce the sound of a round speaker as well as a round speaker can....thats sort of common sense right? All guitar amps and other amps that directly produce music use round speakers
There will be a slight change in dispersion pattern with an oval speaker. Other than that, nothing limits it's performance.
Can you explain what guitar amps and other amps that directly reproduce music use round speakers has to do with this? I'm not sure I follow the logic, but let me attempt to make a comparison based on what I think you are saying.
The other day you mentioned that you were a musician and gifted with the ability to hear things that others can't. That's wonderful, nto many people can, or would, ever make that claim. Now based on your previous comment, your musical training has helped your ability to listen to finer points of music. Am I on target so far? And because musicians know what to listen for, they are better at choosing equipment then the average audio leyman like myself or SoundQ SVT, or 2Deep2 or possibly other national IASCA champs. And therefore, since their equipment is better and the better equipment uses round speakers, they must be superior. There are a couple of flaws to this logic. Most musicians put a priority on loudness rather than tonal or musical accuracy. Those that prefer the "classic" electric guitar sound use tube amps of all things to create it. So, if you buy into this, it means you also buy into the "warm" sound of tube amps are more accurate than a solid state amp argument, because some of the best guitar players around insist on using nothing but tubes. Also, since the dispersion pattern of the oval speaker is the only thing affected, horns for bass/mids/tweets must also be bad as the effect the dispersion pattern of the said speakers.
