Well, I do have some smart friends, national merrit honor students and what not, that know a lot about audio, but i'm not calling them the experts. I'm refering the the "expert" as an individual that has spent the past 20 years installing car audio with his own business, won first place at the spring break nationals last year, and is the only MB quart, zapco, and focal dealer in the area, plus much much more. This is the expert i'm refering to.
That was who I was referring to. I've talked to installers who have been doing business since the days of the original a/d/s/ powerplates who didn't know much aside from installing a system and still held ridiculous beliefs like underpowering speakers is bad, and oval speakers aren't good, and caps are useful and a whole list of other common misconceptions. I have also talked to national competitors who didn't know the first thing about system/speaker design, but had the money to pay someone who did.
I guess my point is don't believe the hype. Much like your Focal/Quart are better than everything else comment is false, so is saying that oval speakers are not good.
Talk to the designers at KEF. I would consider them experts and they seem to like them and still use oval speakers in their flagship.
The brands you like are fine examples of top quality components, but if you think they are the best of the best, you are kidding yourself and so is the local installer.
