In other words just buy a low mileage oval port 3L and the typical "light" overhaul goodies. (I.E. nothing is "special" to this type of rebuild)

4 rod bolts per pack so 3 packs or the same 12 total.

I will add the Fel-Pro exhaust manifold gaskets are much better then OEM not to mention give the needed room to actually open up the ports. You are very limited in size when using the OEM gaskets!

I'd replace the valve stem seals anyway since you will be porting the heads. IMO it would be crazy not to considering the amount of FO created during porting!

Good reminder on the timing components.
There is NO mix and matching between pitch size (8mm or 10mm) 'nuff said.

Don't suppose you will have pictures of the pipe designs you used?

This is important, the cams I used were the escape cams and that is what gave that huge torque spike in the middle without too much sacrifice at the top end. This isn't better than the SVT CAMS, this just shifts the torque curve downward. Higher power numbers but lower torque numbers can be obtained by the SVT cams. The Escape cams and chains are a different pitch than the SVT cams and chains. Use all of one type! Use the timing sets for the specific year of CAMSHAFT THAT YOU WANT.

That is pretty much it.

Holy crap and you still got 326! Whoa! I thought you were still going with SVT cams. Mmmm must resist urge to go through cougar project again....

Then I cut off the tabs on the LIM gaskets and used silcone to seal it in place on the head.

Hey tom/demon I'm still confused on the injector placement and the 'JB welding' that needs to take place. Do you utilize the 2.5 fuel rail?

Quote:

For the exhaust I ran a gutted 2.5L rear exhaust manifold and the modified escape front manifold. THe front manifold had the cat section cut off and a piece of pipe with a turn going the other way was welded onto it. All upper and lower O2 sensors were retained.
Next I made a crossover pipe based upon all the knowledge I had gained from the previous turbo project.
The downpipe that I made was retained from the last turbo setup.

The crossover pipe Swazo and you are offering on GB does this include stuff to make the front manifold work and a downpipe? A picture would be worth a 1000 words here

Nice work my friend, and IIRC your heading East good luck and be safe!

I sent copies of most of my pictures to Demon and some critical placement ones to Stilov. They can host a few of them.

**I am not offering a group buy!!!**

I am setting it up so that Suneil, Swazo, Stilov and anyone else with some resources that can help will have the information needed to do an interest check on a group buy. Then if they get the interest I'm allowing someone to come and pull the pipes in order to duplicate them and make a jig. Once that is complete I expect my pipes to be put back on so I can drive it when I get back. The local shop Deepstage will oversee and/or help with removal and replacement and to make sure that it is all put back together. Of course I am providing the pictures so that they can just copy what I did too if they want, but the requirement is that they come together for at least one group buy.

These pipes will be economical to make once the jig and initial labor are paid for. I would think in the $500-$600 for both the up pipe and down-pipe. I would still recommend using the MSDS headers also though instead of the manifolds...but they're another $500 bucks. Too bad Marty at MSDS can't make a reduced cost set of headers for custom turbo applications. All he'd have to do is make the front header pipe terminate higher up, without the bend on it. Then the crossover pipe can have an upturn to mate up to it on the front bank. Easy.

I would have made the jig and organized the group buy myself if I had another couple of weeks, but I don't so this is the best I can do. My wife will take the car to Deepstage if any serious request comes together.
