It sounds like a reasonable idea, but will take a few cans of Great Stuff. If you have known rattles from the trunk lid, I say go for it, but cover it up once done. I don't remember what it looks like under there, but make sure ther eare no wires you might need to get to. Or, ?I guess a knife can always cut it away.
