A good class D amp, i used to have was the MTX 500D. You could go with an MTX 6500D. It's rated at 500watts into 2 ohms, but so far all the MTX amps i had exceeded the power rating by at least 150watts. The birth certificate on one of my subs were 625watt rms into 2 ohms, and the other was 613watts rms into 2 ohms. Distortion is also underrated. Much lower than what it was supposed to be. the price of these amps are about 350-400, depending where you look.

Hmm, I found the JBL BP600.1 for $180...is the MTX really $200 better?

Edit: So I found the MTX THUNDER6500D for $300, would that be better than the JBL BP600.1? Ideas Dave?

Well, MTX amps normally advertise their amps at 12.5v and use 14.4v ratings on their birth certificates. Not that that matters. IMHO, I wouldn't spend an extra 67% to get similar quality and a 9% increase in power.

From what i know is that MTX is regulated at 12.5V, and the 14.4V is dynamic range, or max power. I've got a copy of one of the birth certificates in here somewhere.. i'll post it up...

EDIT: if my scanner would only make life easier for me. Anyways it is 12.5V regulated and tested. this is from one of my 4 channel amps.

4ohm test: min <0.1$ 20Hz-20kHz - actual <.033%
Signal to noise A-Weighted: min >110dB - actual 114dB
Power rated at >37.5 wattsRMS/channel - actual 66Wrms/Ch

anyways, you get the point. Off subject here

Gotcha. Some others had posted their birth sheets which coincided with what i had said. I'm sure things vary. Thanks for the info!

What makes the Lambda's sound so much better than the rockford hx2's? Also wondering about how much a box will cost...should I see if my local audio place will make one for me? Any suggestions on types of boxes or material that should be used (what kind of box)? Thanks for all the info everyone.

They have an underhung VC design as opposed to the Fosgates overhung design. They also use a copper faraday ring. The two of these combine to make one of the lowest distortion motors made. It is arguably the best sq sub in existence.

Ok, that sounds badass, I was explaining to some of my friends at school today that the idea of a larger sub being slower than a smaller one is only a stereo type, it was difficult to proove at first, but after I reasoned with them that weight and mms have lots to do with it, they began to understand. smile . So how much do you think it will cost for the install? I don't want to get ripped off, hear is everything I want installed and I just want to aim the subs towards the rear.
-two 12" Lambda PB subwoofers
-one JBL BP600.1 amplifier (figured on asking them to wire it in parallel so that I have 300 watts going to each sub at 2ohm's, like people have suggested)
-The box that you suggested Dave

Thanks a bill. smile

I wouldn't be able to begin to guess what the install would cost. I can tell you that you should go to knukonceptz for your wiring. knukoncept@adelphia.net will hook you up with something affordable, yet very nice.
