Yeah, the SVTF is a 4-2-1 header. Granted a 4-1 race header would give more power(not much more though), but SVTF headers are being had as low as $100 used so they can't be beat for that price. Basically the SVTF header is the favorite on the Focus forums because it's cheap, if you can find it as they aren't that many out there, and it's a very well designed header and only a 4-1 racing header will out flow it, but then those can cost over twice as much.

I have the Kamikaze 4-1 header....had a 2.5" downpipe made to go with the Contour pan (all the way to the cat)then 2.25" piping back to the muffler.....the o2 sensor was relocated to the other side due to the a/c being in the way. As for power.....I gained 10Hp and torque stayed the same....but I gained 19hp from 5600-6500 rpms and 13 ft-lbs.

One thing that should be mentioned is that the contour has an engine "cradle" whereas the focus has a "crossmember"...thus leading me to believe there is potential for differences in the oil pan for correct fitment, amongst other things down there...

Good catch Kremit, I meant 4-1.

Considering the cost associated with getting any header to fit our car is going to be high, I would go for the one that is going to give the best gains, not just the cheapest price.
Plus through in the cost of a Focus oil pan,
and any difference in header price would be offset.

But it is nice to know the SVTF header is a viable option and more readily available, whereas the kamikazee is so damn hard to find.

Not necessarily. A used SVTF header can be had as low as $100. My dad bought a Focus oilpan on ebay for $50, and I've seen them at starting prices of $15. The expensive part is gonna be to hook up the header to the exhaust. That's gonna have to be a custom job and if you can't weld or get a welder to do it cheap, it will run you an easy $100. But if you can get it done for around $250 total, that's as cheap or cheaper as a new header. But yeah, it won't be easy and a 4-1 header will only give you around 3-5hp and tq more than the SVT header.

Focus oil pans sell for a little more than $30 through www.fordpartsonline.com .... If noone else tries this on a pre98,, I'll try to fit the oil pan, then the header if I have the money. But it'll have to wait until I'm in college, so a minimum of 6 months from now.

That is the question, wheather or not it will fit on a older zetec. Mine's a 2000. I'll ask my dad more specifics on the oil pan he got and what he's doing. Be a few days before I post on that though.
