Hey guys,
I installed a complete SVT intake assembly on my 98 SE V6 over the summer. When I first start the car, it revs up to about 2000 RPMs and then eventually goes down to a normal idle speed. I replaced everything from the fender well to the TB with the SVT setup except the IAT sensor. I just soldered on some longer wire and plugged it into the rubber hose between the TB and the MAF. Should I purchase the IAT sensor for the SVT or is the SE one sufficient (are they even different)? Would this even correct the problem I'm having or is it something else (the PCM)? Thanks for your help in advance!

the SVT has no IAT so good luck buying that, also did you reset the PCM after you installed it, if you didnt need to do that lemme know if that helps

This is normal operation. My Sport revs up to 1500 and my SVT revs up to 2000. As long as it starts to drop down to 1000 within a few seconds I don't think anything's wrong. Still, as mentioned, it wouldn't hurt to reset your PCM if you haven't done that already.

I reset the PCM by pulling the two fuses (#4 & #11) back when I installed the system. It revs high on start up and then kicks down after about 5-10 seconds. As far as the IAT sensor goes, there was an opening for one in the accordian tubing from the SVT so I don't know why the SVT wouldn't have one. FordParts.com lists a different one for the SE vs. SVT so I'm not sure what's the deal with that. Anyone here upgrade their SE intake to the SVT intake and get another sensor? Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it.

I bought a new SVT accordian hose, when I converted, and it came with the IAT sensor installed in it. That piece of rubber cost over $85, I'm glad the IAT was part of the assy.

Could you give me a part number for the sensor itself so I can cross-reference it with the one on my 98 SE to see if they are the same thing? Thanks!

Misinformation, the SVT certainly does have an IAT! It is in the accordian tube!

Thank you Lance, I knew I wasn't imagining it. Anyone have a part number I can use or is the IAT sensor not even the cause of my problem? Thanks.
