When replacing the factory head unit, what have people done to support the rear of the new unit? I know the owners manual of all the head units say to support it with a strap that they provide, but how the heck are you supposed to get to the rear of the unit once it is in? Mine seems to rattle over bumps.

TIA

I've had to support head units in a few cars. Namely GM's with the legendary microwave sized opening. BUT, I've never heard of any trouble with the FORD sized openings. I for one am very very impressed with the stability of my head unit. Never had a problem with it cause a skip.

BUT, if you are wanting to support it, you will have to do some nifty work with your hands. Fist take out the HU, then get in there and see what you can do to beef up the support. Worth a try I suppose. What kind of HU are you running?

The head unit is a Rockford Fosgate. I bought it from Crutchfield a while ago.

Don't worry about it, I haven't had to use a support strap for the contour because it's a snug fit. If it was a GM or Chrysler (Din and Half Opening) then I would recommend it but I would't do it on a tour.
