Depends on how much it rains. If it rains a lot and relly washes over the car, I dont see how drying it would do any harm. I wouldnt dry it if it just sprinkled a little bit.
I don't know about your rain, but my rain is what makes the car dirty. If my car is sparkling clean and it rains, my car will be filthy. The dirt and elements in rain are amplified because I live in CA, but rain in most places still is a little dirty. Just wash the car. Hosing it down does nothing either. If you have ever tried to hose or even spray the car off to clean it up a bit, you would know, it makes it worse. That's why they invented the CA car duster! That's what I would recommend if the car is not wet. It will not be clean clean but it will be cleaner than before and in a safer way.

I agree. Even if it was harmless,(which it probably is'nt) the cringe effect is way too strong for me.

i'd say if you have a good thick coat of zaino or zymol or another wax with good staying power you'd be fine. but on bare paint or paint with something thin like gold class... definately wash it.

Just use Quick Detailer on it after it rains and the most important thing is to wipe it down using a microfiber towel or baby diapers, pure 100% cotton ones, not the soiled ones I only use them on my car to wipe it down after I wash it or use the quick detailer for a "quick shine" and the microfiber towels are used for removing the waxes

If you have a good coat of wax on the car and the rain only produced light spotting, I agree with using a spray detailer and a cotton cloth. I use good towels myself.
Note: Never use fabric softener on any car rag, it reduces the ability of the fibers to absorb liquid.
I've tried the microfiber rags... I'll save the fiber for my shirts and furniture upholstery.

All things considered, we all wipe down the car after we wash it, right? Why do we wipe it down after a wash? To prevent spotting. What causes the spots? Dirt (Cl, K, some Na, etc) in the water (well or city). Same idea with rain, there is dirt in it. So if ya just washes the car, then it rains, I personally think it'd be fine to wipe her down. If it has sit out for awhile, and accumulated dust on it, then wash it. Just my $.02

Epatonm would be as close to correct as it would get. I just used the example of just washing your car to make a point, I don't think he just washed his car. In CA I would not do it ANY time unless after a wash. Or any other heavily smogged state for that matter.
